Air India plane makes emergency landing in Pakistan

Air India plane makes emergency landing in PakistanAir India plane makes emergency landing in Pakistan

An Air India plane with 130 on board made an emergency landing in Pakistan after experiencing technical problems. India sent a second plane to transport the crew and passengers home.

An Indian plane made an emergency landing in Pakistan on Monday after experiencing a technical problem, a Pakistani official said.
The Air India aircraft carrying 130 passengers and crew members landed safely at Nawab Shah airport in southern Pakistan, said civil aviation spokesman Pervaiz George.

Pakistani officials were told to do everything needed to help the stranded passengers, George said. India sent a second plane that flew the passengers and crew back home.
Eight Indian aviation officials who arrived with the second aircraft will stay in Pakistan to do the repair work on the faulty plane and then fly it back to India, he said.

Neighbors Pakistan and India have fought three major wars against each other since achieving independence from Britain in 1947. The relationship has warmed somewhat recently, but they still think of each other as foes.
